NEW ANTHROPOLOGY MAJOR
(FOR STUDENTS WHO DECLARED AFTER FALL 2020)
This major consists of at least 40 Anthropology, and 12 Allied credit hours:
Required Foundation (13 credits)
ANTH 1010 Culture and the Human Experience
ANTH 1020 Human Origins, Evolution and Diversity
ANTH 1030 Prehistoric Archaeology
ANTH 1050 Evolution of Human Nature
ANTH 2001 Anthropology as a Major and Career
Core (2000-level): Two (2***-lvl) core courses within or across emphases (6 credits, minimum).
Upper Division (3000-level): Four (3***-lvl) courses within or across emphases (12 credits, minimum).
Integrative (4000-level) and Advanced (5000-level): 9 credits (minimum) with at least three credits coming from the 5000-level.
Including: SBS 4890 SBS Internship; other Internships and Learning Abroad experiences may be counted here if approved by Department.
TOTAL HOURS IN ANTHROPOLOGY: A minimum of 40 semester hours.* A minimum of 24 Anthropology semester hours must be taken at the University of Utah
*Please note: You must earn a grade of “C” or better for courses to count toward your major, and you must earn a GPA of at least 2.5 in your major courses.
An additional 12 credits are required from related areas of study.
